St Albans & South Hertfordshire

County travel, without the central London detour

Hertfordshire journeys are usually about avoiding London rather than entering it — and about knowing which stretch of the M25 or A1(M) will hold you up on the day.

The commuter pattern here is Thameslink-shaped. St Albans City station takes people into St Pancras in around twenty minutes, so much of our work is the first and last mile: a car to the station in the morning, and a collection off a late train that arrives after the taxi rank has thinned out. For clients who'd rather not change at all, we run the full door-to-door into the City at a fixed price.

Cross-county journeys — Harpenden to Watford, Hemel to Welwyn, anything reaching Cambridge or Milton Keynes — are almost always faster on the A1(M) or M1 than through town. The exception is the M25 between J21A and J23, which we avoid at peak by routing through the A414 even though the distance is longer.

Locally we also cover event travel: Hatfield House, Sopwell House, Brocket Hall and the golf and wedding venues around the county, where the useful thing is a car that stays on site rather than one you have to summon again at midnight.
